On August 14th, 2023, Silver Dollar City unveiled the $30 million Fire In The Hole indoor roller coaster, the largest of its kind in the Midwest. This new attraction is part of the park's strategic growth plan, offering families more opportunities to play and stay together in the Ozarks. Brad Thomas, President of Silver Dollar City, highlighted the investment as the park's largest in a single attraction. The ride officially opened on March 9, 2024, as promised, and Paragon was present to support the launch.
Paragon began working on the Fire In The Hole project nearly a year before its August 2023 announcement. The coaster features a powered incline and gravity descent with multiple drops, a splash landing, and thrilling effects like fiber optics simulating a fast-burning fuse. The ride spans nearly a third of a mile and is housed in a five-story, temperature-controlled building for year-round operation.
Paragon was responsible for the comprehensive audio design, which included exterior and interior audio elements for the attraction, queue lines, and special effects. Each scene incorporates triggered point-source audio, and the ride vehicles are equipped with onboard audio systems to enhance the experience. Strategic video elements were also added to boost the visual impact. Paragon’s efforts included design, R&D, prototype construction, equipment acquisition, and preparations for installation, which began in the fall of 2023.
For over 23 years, Paragon has collaborated with Herschend Family Entertainment, providing audio, video, lighting, and rigging systems for various properties, including Silver Dollar City, Showboat Branson Belle, White Water, and Dixie Stampede. Their work has encompassed attraction development, theater venues, parkwide systems, and large-scale special event projects for seasonal events.
